The Courage to Be Yourself
What happens when we stop living by other people's expectations?
I grew up being told that I was extraordinary and could be or do anything I wanted. So I looked at what successful people were doing and tried to do those things too.
I built a career, started a business, worked hard, bought the beautiful apartment and had the boyfriend. By most conventional measures, I was doing pretty well.
But at some point, I started wondering: If I really can do anything I want, what do I actually want?
I realized that while I enjoyed many parts of my life, I didn't want everything that came with that version of success. The constant pressure, the stress and the feeling that there was always something else I needed to achieve.
I also loved singing, dancing, connecting with people, exploring and doing things simply because they made me happy. And I wanted more room for that.
This talk explores the expectations we grow up with, the fears that influence our decisions and why even people who appear incredibly successful might not be living the life they really want.
My hope is to leave people questioning some of their own assumptions, feeling inspired to take their own desires more seriously and finding the courage to be more fully themselves.
It's personal, sometimes funny, and hopefully leaves people with plenty of energy and inspiration to take home.
