Reikihealing

The quiet end of energy work — where your system gets to relax.

There are people whose company makes you exhale — you sit down near them and something in you stops bracing. Most of us get very little of that. It's what reiki is built around, before we get anywhere near a conversation about energy.

Surrender and receive

Presence, attention and awareness.

Most people don't find out how much they were holding until it lets go — the jaw, usually, or the shoulders, or a breath that turns out to be the first full one in a while.

People experience it differently. Warmth, or coolness. A tingling under the hands. Heaviness in one place and lightness in another. A lot of people simply fall asleep, and a body that drops off that quickly was usually overdue.

Whether you think of it as energy or as an hour of genuine rest, the effect is fairly consistent. People leave calmer, softer and less braced than they arrived, and quite a few sleep better for several nights afterwards.

Afterwards I'll ask what you noticed rather than telling you what I felt, because I don't think that part is mine to decide. It isn't medical care and doesn't replace it.
